Here’s a short live mix I did at The Blue Lotus Club as part of their Samhain evening. The mixing is neither big nor clever, and the track selection contains no suprises, but it was great to hear the tracks immensely loud.
Tracklist goes something like:
“Easy On The Bones” - Svarte Greiner Knive LP)
“Testament” - Lustmord (Other (?) LP)
“The Black Line (Forever Waiting)” - Anduin (Forever Waiting LP)
“Fonograaf” - Machinefabriek (Dauw LP)
“Black Sleep Part IV” - Jasper TX (Black Sleep LP)
“Final Sleep” - Svarte Greiner (Knive LP)
Plus a few bits of field recordings.
The evening itself was great: some interesting & genuinely creepy short films, readings and all round pretentious artyness. But most of all it was fun.
The mix went down well. It must have because I’ve been asked to do something similar at their Christmas/New Year/Mid Winter thing.
Thanks chaps.

This is a mix put together using tracks from my favourite albums of 2007. As such it was quite a tricky thing to do as the selection was not made with a mix in mind. But, as is often the case while working on a mix, I found myself pondering something completely unrelated and slowly this exerted an influence that helped focus things in a previously unthought of way. In this instance it was the idea of author Marcus Sedgwick that the days between Christmas Day & New Year are The Dead Days, quiet days when nothing seems to happen yet it is the time “when spirits roam and magic shifts just beneath the surface of our lives.” Hopefully the mix reflects this.

Happy New Year to you and while you wait its arrival, listen or download to Music For Dead The Days (right click and save)
